grygomaca's Full Review: Canon PowerShot A640 Digital Camera
I LOVE IT: I bought my Canon PowerShot A640 digital camera because I wanted an upgrade from my few year old Kodak 7mp camera. After reading reviews and doing some research, I made the decision to purchase it. Which was a big deal, having been very Kodak brand loyal up to that point. I paid $260 on amazon.com. I've had it for 1.5 years now, I use it way more than average and it's still delivering perfect pictures and video.
NEAR IDEAL SIZE: The camera is probably a little larger than your average point and click, but not by much. It's still light and small enough to tuck into a purse. One thing I learned was, unless you flip the screen around, you'll scratch it on miscellaneous items in your purse. Otherwise, it's simple to grab and go.
FEATURES: This camera has more features than I have even used, such as digital zoom, red eye, AF-assist beam, reverse displacement, disp. overlay, self-timer, manual settings and stitch assist.
PERFECT PICTURES: I have twin toddlers, so getting a perfect picture of the two of them is really difficult. As a matter of fact, I will continue to take pictures until I get the perfect one. Just gives you an ideal of the volume of pictures I'm taking with this camera. Family pictures are one thing that we do a lot of. I use the self-timer options very often. I am a picture person, I can't begin to tell you the use and abuse my camera experiences. Goes to show you that this one is really holding up well!
VIBRANT VIDEOS: Although I have a digital video camera, I haven't used it in almost a year. I use my camera for photos and videos. Especially since I started my own youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/my2winkies). Short, clear videos are so easy to upload. And the quality is great! Unless the lighting is dim, then, naturally, your videos will turn out dark.
ACCESSORIES: I would highly recommend purchasing the following accessories for your Canon PowerShot A640:
1) Rechargeable batteries (I have 4 Duracell Recharcheable AA's) 2) A rapid battery charger (I have the Duracell CEF90NC 30 minute charger, purchased with the batteries, $25 on amazon) 3) A great memory card (I have the SanDisk SDSDRX3-8192-A21 8GB Extreme III SDHC Card, $35 on amazon) 4) A memory card reader (I purchased a IOGEAR Universal Memory Drive Hi-Speed USB Memory Card Reader/Writer 3 years ago on amazon for $10 and it still works like a charm, no need to connect my camera to pc ever) 5) Mini/tabletop tripod (I have a little aluminum Hakuba one that is perfect for times when you want everyone in the picture)
I love my Canon A640 digital camera. It's one of the best purchases I've made.
