Pros: Size. Price vs. performance is EXCELLENT, compared to SD300, SD450, SD500, and SD550.
Cons: Almost every Powershot model has different controls on the back - CONSTANT RELEARNING :(
The Bottom Line: With its size, you have no reason not to take pictures anymore. With its price & the high quality that you expect from a Canon, you can't be without it.
birnboim's Full Review: Canon PowerShot SD400 / IXUS 50 Digital Camera
This camera is the 5th that I have owned in the PowerShot series. This model is small, slender, and chic, without giving up any performance.
The SD400 is much improved over the 'S' series (ie. S410) in that it does not take NEARLY as long from when you press the button until it actually takes the picture. When coupled with an 'Ultra' SD card, I was able to take continuous shots at the highest resolution, without any problems - something that I was NEVER able to do with the earlier models.
There are lots of extra features that are built into the camera, but honestly I never use them. If I want a black & white picture, chances are that I am going to do the editing in Photoshop. Other than the continues shots, and the timer, however, this camera lets you set ISO rating (the speed of the 'film') as high as 1600! Earlier models would only go up to ISO 400.
The SD400 is perfect for most users. Its size and weight allow you to stick it in your pocket and go. There is no shelpping involved. You'll never miss that photo op again!
