Pros: Durable, good pictures, many settings but still simple
Cons: Battery life low, expensive (very)
The Bottom Line: Overall, I believe this is an excellent camera that is especially durable and is high quality. This camera is made for anyone with a [destructive] young son.

Upon first taking my SD700 camera out of the box, I was surprised. First, for a small camera, it took CF-2 (Compact Flash), which is really big for a camera like this. I paid $650 CDN for the camera, but it was worth it.
Quality?
The quality I expected from this camera was very high, considering the price and 6.0 mp rating. But when I decided to take the first picture, it turned out very noisy at an ISO setting of 800. I managed to take 40 pictures of my kids before the battery died.
Batteries
I have to admit, batteries don't last these days. But if you consider the size of this battery, I guess you have to expect a horrible battery life. I guess it's O.K., but I'd expect more from Cannon...
Charging the battery was easier than anticipated. Just pop it out of the camera, slide it into the charger and, presto! Just let it charge for a few hours.
Durability
The category that I believe the camera is best at is durability. My 6-year-old decided to wake up early (4 am) and take a picture of the sky. He accidentally dropped my beloved camera out of the 3rd story window (yes, 30 feet.)
I awoke to a spine-tingling "CRASH!". I rushed to see what was wrong outside, and found that my camera had shattered the glass table outside (Thankfully the table was being thrown out anyway). The camera suffered almost no damage. I took a picture and it seemed fine, except for a bit of cosmetic damage on the plastic shell. I took it to my brother, who tested it and said it was fine, and we got the plastic casing replaced.
