I read this review and it pertained to me exactly! I was so relieved to see that the problem I was having with this model had the same serial number starting FATM and you had good luck in getting your problem resolved. I called Canon tech support and they have never heard of what you spoke of. They denied ever having a bad batch of print heads for this model. Then they informed me that my printer is now out of warranty and that I would have to spend $70 for the new printhead! Well, what if it's NOT the printhead?? Take it in for $56 at a service center and have it diagnosed.....
Needless to say, I'm done with Canon and I told them so. I will research my new printer more thoroughly before I buy it.....

Now that's what I call good customer service! That's almost unbelievable in this time of automated answering services etc. I know people who have waited for hours just to talk to a live person, not to mention the weeks they've waited to get their products repaired. I was thinking about an Epson, but maybe I will go for a Canon after all.
