| akuklewicz's Full Review: Canon Sure Shot Z155 35mm Film Camera |
I love gadgets; Can't just buy the cheapest or simplest, I want features and value.
In fact, I was really wanting a digital camera, but my Luddite wife insisted on film. This camera was a more than satisfactory compromise, and avoided any marital strife as well as delivering excellent pictures.
The zoom is phenomenal for a compact camera, I have made frequent use of it to pretend I have good seats for weddings, graduations, etc. Just showing it to people is a conversation starter - this is the Pinocchio of camera lenses. I worry a bit that the zoom mechanism will break, but so far no problem.
And while significantly smaller than the other Sure Shot models, it is robust and solid.
As you would expect from an auto-everything 35mm, it takes care of flash, focus, and red-eye. With a few iconographically labeled options on a single dial, you pick the mode - portrait, high contrast, action, still life, or custom.
I am sure there are some features and settings I will never use, but I am somehow comforted that they are there, waiting for the need I'll never have.
The only other downside has been in auto mode, I had difficulty taking shots rapidly, such as following a bride down the aisle or a graduate to a diploma. I think there is a mode to do this, but it isn't straight forward, so read the manual better than I have and you'll probably be fine.
Buy and enjoy!
