I bought my ZR before digital Camcorders took off. I had a full standard Chinon with all of the features. I love this camera except it was too big to travel! I love the Canon Zr miniDv.
It is small enough to carry anywhere. It takes great pictures in most light but needs help when in in-between light. The LCD is good inside but hard to see when outside in strong daylight. The amount of time on a single tape is about one hour. I would like to see it have at least an half hour more. You will need at least two batteries when shooting away from home.
I took this camera with me to Paris and the South of France. It was easy to use and did not get in the way. I took in on my trip to the Grand Canyon last year and was very impressed with the quality of film that was shot. I have made several copies with very little quality loss. I have since gotten an iMac with the iMovie feature and my camera works very well with it. It comes with all the cables and wires needed.
