We researched camcorders and tried out many models. We picked this one for the basic features we needed and the reasonable price for it's many options. It does much more than we needed, but the extra options are so much fun to use. Its very easy to use once you get through the instruction book, which is a bit confusing and much easier to just figure out how to do it without reading. The zoom on the Canon camcorders are so much better than most in the same price range, and the image stabilizers and focus are awesome. Once we tried this one out, we were sure it was what we wanted. It is easy to use, just turn it on and record and it records great, and there are many options to change for the advanced user to adjust picture quality, etc.
