Pros: Easy "carpay" phone interface for paying your bill.
Cons: No way to contact a human, poor closure, subpar customer service.
The Bottom Line: If you want to be respected as a customer, do not use Capital One. Your time & money are too important to be treated this way.

| gyounggido's Full Review: Capital One Auto Finance |
I financed my car through Capital One Auto Finance. Everything seemed fine, until my car was stolen. I continued to pay while my insurance company worked out the payoff. The check was cut and sent to Capital One. There was a $600 difference, so I received a bill for it showing a due date. About two weeks before the due date, a very rude (and grammatically challenged) collection agent called and told me I was seriously past due. I received threatening letters in the mail. I told the threatening collection agent that I would send the check immediately (much earlier than the due date). I figured this would shut him up and clear up the whole mess. Just a couple days later, another threatening phone call, telling me we had "unfinished business". My check made it there the next day, and cleared without a problem. Did I get a call when this happened? Of course not. I talked with Capital One to complain, but the customer service rep said he can't help and hung up on me. I had to call three times to finally get a letter in the mail telling me the car has been paid in full. That was a few months ago. My credit report still shows a balance. I wasn't worried at first, because I've never been late, and that is accurately reflected. However, I don't like the idea of my credit report showing a balance that doesn't actually exist. I disputed the balance through the credit reporting agency. Today, I received an alert telling me Capital One had updated the entry. They updated it to say "Account closed by consumer" in the status field, and the overall balance still remains. I try to call Capital One, but to no avail. All their numbers go straight to an automated menu which doesn't seem to be working at this time. It is impossible to place a simple call straight through to a person. Capital One goes to great length to distance itself from the costumer so accountability is at an absolute minimum. As an honest consumer, I find this business practice absolutely unacceptable (why else would a company put forth such effort to become unreachable unless it truly has something to hide). I will aggressively pursue this issue to have this entry accurately reported in my credit, and after it is finished I will feel quite satisfied knowing that my dealings with Capital One Auto Finance are over. I do not recommend going with Capital One for your auto loan because of this experience. It is important for me to feel comfortable where I spend my money, and Capital One will not give you that feeling of comfort. Respect for customers is sadly absent with this company, and it leads to much more hassle than it is worth.
