This is my second experience with Capital One auto-finance. I spent 10 minutes and applied on-line at 7pm EST and had a check in the mail the next AM at 10. The rates are competitive, and I have always made my payments on time (and over payed) so I have never really dealt with their customer service.

Also, I sold the 1st car to Carmax, so it was up to them to get the title. I read another review where getting the title was a challenge, but since I didn't sell the car to an individual, I did not have that experience.

The best thing about the blank check is I refuse to enter the finance office of any new car dealer. I just write them a check and avoid the extra sales pitches from the finance manager which are all a waste of money.

The other nice thing, most local banks take their time to get a loan approved. I tried both Wachovia (my bank) and Bank of America and it takes 30-60 minutes just to get help and then they treat me like I am getting a mortgage. I have excellent credit so Capital one just sends me checks with no hassle. My capital one check was in the mail before I could even receive assistance in those banks. I use Capital One as a short-term loan solution as I normally pay vehicles off quickly.

So, if you make payments on-time and don't need to deal with customer service, they are great. To get to a live customer service agent, you have to navigate a myriad of phone menus which can be frustrating.
