| stewiefly's Full Review: Capital One Auto Finance |
I can say that most of peoples bad experiences here are most likely true. I just recently filed a complaint with my states Attorneys General office due to Capital One's deceptive practices and questionable advertising. I have very good credit and was approved with a very favorable rate by Capital One. I took them at their advertised word and started looking for my car. I was approved for a substantial amount beyond what I was going to spend. I made contact with an individual with a very nice car that checked out and was a reasonable price. It was within the Kelley Blue Book guidelines for price. The seller was also very reasonable and was flexible about accepting Capital One's blank check. He was willing to help me fax information to Capital One and wait for the check to clear. This is when the problems begin. I was mailed the Capital One "Blank Check Owner's Manual" and followed the instructions with the so called "approved loan." My seller followed through and then tried to deposit the "check." The procedure for the seller is to call Capital One and make sure the "check" is activated. You guessed it, it was not activated. They tell the seller that I need to contact them about a few "issues." Now, here I am embarrassed and humiliated after promising to buy the car. I call Capital One and I am now informed that the transaction is under "review" and I will get a call back. I am still waiting...so is the poor seller for his money. Nice job, Capital One. The "blank check" sure didn't function like any other check I have used. Don't waste your time with this company.
