| msjam's Full Review: 471 Coffee Maker |
If I was going to spend money on something like a high-end coffeemaker, I made sure that I did my homework first. I wanted a coffeemaker that had a timer, caraffe that maintains hot coffee, without the need for a warming plate and is fairly easy to maintain.
I ordered my CoffeeTec through their website, I chose the black model, it looks very classy and appears to be well built. The thermal caraffe is made of stainless steel, it came with its own milk container, frothing parts and video tape.
The machine has a digital programmable clock with a dark green LED, with AM/PM indicators. It automatically shuts off 2 hours after it brews.
The water reservoir has two valves, one for brewing and the other for steam. The gold tone filter carrier swings out with a push of a button, the drip stop lets me pour coffee while brewing.
The machine brews coffee fast, the aroma coming from this machine is heavenly. When the machine is done brewing, the Steam Ready light comes on, I attached the milk frother and was ready to froth my milk, there's a lot of parts that came with the machine to froth the milk, it was very easy to assemble, although the connections have to be done exactly and maintained extremly tight.
My first cup was delicious, it was definitely better than our old Black and Decker that made coffee taste very bitter. This machine rivals any good coffee shop products.
The milk container can be stored in the refrigerator after use, but I suggest not leave the hose in the container because I found it was hard to clean the inside of the hose with the milk build-up in it. I always handwash the water reservoir and milk container.
On the downside, the frother has it's own mind, when I froth milk, I have had no problem but everytime I try to froth hot chocolate, the machine flatly refused to do it.
After months of use, I find that I like the 3-5 cup setting because it brews the coffee at a much slower pace, and stronger.
I really like this machine, I just hope that it last.
