This is a good, solid thermal carafe coffee maker that has lasted about 3 years so far. It makes great coffee. The thermal carafe keeps coffee warm enough for long enough for me to enjoy it all morning without the coffee tasting 'old.'
Although the carafe does its job well, it is not perfect. Its lid is a hassle to take off and put back on. A push-in, push-out lid for opening and closing would've worked much better. You have to take the lid off (by unscrewing it) to pour the coffee unless the carafe is very full. You eventually get used to the lid hassle, but you have to revisit the problem when guests come over and try to pour coffee themselves, by giving them a tutorial on how to operate the lid. Screwing the lid back on is more difficult than unscrewing it because it sometimes requires several tries to get it back on right.
But a wonderful 'pro' for guests is that the coffeemaker works fast, so that if you are making coffee for a lot of people, the fact that it only makes 10 cups is not really a drawback. You can pour the coffee, then set it right back up to brew another pot in no time.
Aside from the lid issue, this coffeemaker is excellent.
