| rmgood's Full Review: Car Alarm Key Ring |
My daughter goes nuts at the sight of mommy's keys (or anyone else's for that matter, I just like to pretend I'm special)! She squeals and yelps and grabs for them with a strength I really never knew toddlers had! So when I saw this car key ring on sale, I just knew it would be one of her favorite toys. And I was right!
The new and improved version of Playskool's Car Alarm Key Ring is slightly different from the one shown in this picture. Instead of a small, white key ring, it is large and purple. Instead of being square, it is much more rounded. And instead of small, gray buttons, it has large, colorful ones. The realistic three silver keys that hang from the ring are similar. The keys clink together to make that ever-popular key jingle that kids so love. Despite their sound and appearance, however, the "metal" keys are actually made of durable, rounded plastic making them easy to clean and safe for toddlers.
As I stated earlier, the key ring has four buttons. Each button makes an obnoxious noise. This is really a catch 22 for parents: toddlers love the sounds so much they can't stop pushing those buttons and yes, parents, this will drive you to the brink of sanity! There is no volume control or off switch for this toy (perhaps the only negative aspect). They four buttons each contain a picture. Push the button with the house picture and a doorbell will ring. Push another button and a car alarm will beep. Another starts a car's engine. And my personal favorite (insert sarcasm here) is the one that sounds of a traffic jam! As a side note, that is the longest sound and the one your toddler is sure to take a particular liking to!
At $10, this toy will provide many hours of distraction and entertainment for your little busy-body, which is priceless if your toddler is as easily bored as mine is. I found it on sale for $5 which makes it twice the deal. My daughter is absolutely fascinated by the toy and loves playing with it. And despite its physical appearance of looking nothing like my car keys, this toy does seem to distract her from mommy's keys more often than not. All in all, I think this key ring is one of the best toys she has and I would recommend it as a great gift for any toddler.
