Pros: Looks harmless enough.
Cons: Electrical shocks
Skin burns/irritation/scarring
The Bottom Line: Try one of the more expensive models. Cardiosport did not put their hearts into this one.

| rokhausen's Full Review: Cardiosport First Heartrate Monitor |
I purchased a Cardiosport First Heartrate Monitor to use on my late morning jogs. The unit worked well enough when I wore it at a resting pulse of 60-80 bpm. I went out for a jog with it on my wrist and when my heart rate got up to around 140 bpm the thing began emitting small electrical shocks. This was not distracting enough at first to deter my jogging regiment - a little fizzle here or a sharp pinch there I found posed a interesting challenge to my healthful convictions. But when my heart got up and over 180 bpm, these nips and pecks gave way to a violently steadfast stream of voltage that ravaged my traditionally stout and resilient frame. I fell to writhing upon some poor old fellow's lawn, straining against the paralysis of electrocution to remove the monitor from my burning wrist, while he, sitting in the shade of a birch tree with a bowl of sliced melon in his lap, watched helplessly from a patio chair. When I had finally removed the monitor, the skin where it had made contact with my wrist was a jaundiced tone and was extremely sore to the touch. My heart pounded at irregular clips and clops like a sloshed racehorse for perhaps an hour afterwards. Try one of the more expensive models. Cardiosport did not put their hearts into this one.
