I'm sure we all remember the Care Bears when we were little ones ourselves. I know I do! I had the little 3 inch posable figures and the stuffed animals. My mom even went out and bought a pattern to make homemade Care Bears, I had 3 homemade bears, complete with the heart button on the butt and a few of the real ones..Birthday Bear (my favorite) and Friend Bear.
About four years ago I started collecting the jumbo sized Care Bears for myself. My girls get the smaller Care Bears and the Care Bear playsets. I got the Care Bears Jumbo 28" Tenderheart Bear for a great deal, and I do mean a great deal. I went to a resale shop in a little town right over the border of Toledo, Oh and got it for $1.00, thats right $1.00. Since I'm collecting them, I couldn't pass it up. A buck is better then $20.00 or more for a jumbo Care Bear.
I'm a kid again
The Care Bears Jumbo 28" Tenderheart Bear is as it says 28 inches from the top of its cute ears to its cute feet. The Care Bears Jumbo 28" Tenderheart Bear is brown, with a big bright red heart on its white belly. The heart is made out of red felt, with a light pink stitched border. Tenderheart bear has big brown eyes, that just stare at you and welcome your kids to give him a big tenderheart hug. Tenderheart has a big brown smile, this is stitched on. The stitching is coming unraveled on one spot, but otherwise in good shape and still looks like a warm smile. Tenderhearts nose is made out of a hard brown plastic. This also is securely attached to the bear. Tenderheart has a little white tuff on its ears. Tenderheart also has the trademark red heart Care Bear button on its bottom. Care Bears is written in white and securely attached to Tenderheart.
A few years ago I gave up collecting the jumbo Care Bears and gave them to my girls to play with.
Skylar's thoughts
Now Skylar is mostly into Pixars Cars and anything else that has wheels, but she does play with the Care Bears Jumbo 28" Tenderheart Bear every now and then. Up until a month ago she used the Care Bears Jumbo 28" Tenderheart Bear for a pillow when watching you guessed it Cars. Then she got a Cars chair. Skylar also tries to put diapers on Tenderheart bear, she doesn't want him to go potty on the floor. She will run to get a diaper and a baby wipe and tell me he went potty, run to put him on her potty seat and try to put a diaper on his bottom. Of course his bottom is to big for diapers. Skylar also "feeds" and gives Tenderheart "drinks" of her juice and food. Oh no she she doesn't stop there, Tenderheart also gets naps in mommy's bed and watches movies too. However when she wanted to give Tenderheart a bath, I had to stop her. I didn't want a soaked bear in my tub, and dripping water all over.
Jordan's thoughts
Jordan would always ask to play with them when I had them sitting on a shelf in my room, after awhile I decided to give in and give my collection to Jordan and Skylar. Jordan used to play with the Care Bears Jumbo 28" Tenderheart Bear when I first gave it to her a few years back. Now Tenderheart is just another fluffy pillow for her (she does have one of the big pillow Care Bears too).
Mom's thoughts
I recommend the Care Bears Jumbo 28" Tenderheart Bear to kids of all ages. I've had Tenderheart Bear now for 4 years and he is still in excellent shape. The last two years he has gotten his diaper changed, feed, drank some juice, got thrown up and down stairs, took plenty bear naps, sat on the potty, squeezed, jumped on, bounced on, stepped on, sat on, laid on, kicked around, had his ears bit and still has not ran away. Care Bears Jumbo 28" Tenderheart Bear has taken a few spins in the washer and drier over the years and still looks good. He is still smiling.
