Pros:Beautiful Villas, lovely grounds and swimming pools
Cons:Suites lacking closet/storage space. Small and dark atmosphere.
The Bottom Line: Suites average. Nothing special. Lacking storage. The villas are wonderful, gorgeous and worth the extra price.
I stayed at the Caribe Royale in July 2004. I found that the suites were very small and although they are advertised to sleep 6 people, I would not recommend more than a family of four people (no more than 4) staying in the room. Even though the suites come with a bedroom and a small sitting area with a sleep sofa, the one draw back is that the suites although state they sleep 6, they really cannot accomdate the luggage or clothing of 6 people not by any stretch of the imagination. If you are traveling with 2, 3 or 4 people the suites might be a good choice, but if you plan to stay with 5 or more people, you should move up to the villa which is absolutely lovely and huge. The main thing I found very wrong with the suites is that there is no real closet or clothing storage places. There is not a closet in the room. There is only a small wardrobe which cannot accomodate 6 people's belongings. The bathroom was very small as well to accomodate 6 people. Once I saw the suites and spent one night in the room, I immediately went to the reservation desk and asked to be moved to a villa. The management was very accomodating to my request and even took me to look at the villas before I made my decision because the villa was more than double the price of the suite. When I saw the villa, I was thrilled. The villas are absolutely beautiful and contain a full kitchen a laundry room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room/dining room area and a sliding door leading to a screened in balcony overlooking a lovely private villa pool. There is no comparison between the suites and the villas.... the villas are so much nicer that it's almost unbelievable. If you plan to vacation with more than 4 people, take my advice and go for the villa. You will more than make up for the difference in price by driving a short drive to the local Publix supermarket and buying some food to stock your full kitchen (which contained every item needed). The hotel itself was lovely and the main pool near the suites was huge and beautiful. The smaller pool at the villas was also nice and we found ourselves staying at the smaller pool more often because it was less crowded and the water was so much nicer temperature. I would highly recommend the Caribe Royale, but remember the suites for 4 or less people and move up to the suite if you have more than 4 people.
