Caribe Royale Resort....We loved it!!!

Pros:A beautiful resort, felt like we were in the tropics.
Cons:Rooms could be brighter a little drab
The Bottom Line: We were so pleased with this resort. We were nervous after reading some reviews but it was wonderful.

My husband and I just got back from Orlando, where we went to watch my daughter play in the college softball Rebel Games. We have not been to Orlando in fifteen years, we go to Sanibel Island when we go to Florida, the building that has gone on in the Orlando area is amazing.

We made reservations in January and after pricing out everything separately, we wanted to compare package prices.
We went on the JetBlue airline site and they have "get away" packages. The Caribe Royale Resort was one of there suggestions for hotel/resorts to stay at. We looked at the Caribes website and really liked the look of the place, it was a good package deal so we booked it. My lone request was a pool view.

We arrived at the Caribe around midnight and drove up to this beautiful hotel. It has beautiful lit waterfalls in the front and a beautiful covered portico. We went to the lobby to check in and register. It is absolutely beautiful. Alot of marble and tropical plants. The front desk staff was very pleasant and we were checked in quickly.

We were staying in tower two on the first floor. Well first it was difficult to read the writing on the columns at night. We finally found the building we were staying in and parked. We found our room and almost fell over the huge box that was sitting in the middle of the living room area. The last person staying there must have packed up everything to ship home and the box was never removed from the room. Okay so we are not liking this too much and my husband goes into the bedroom and looks out the window and we have a beautiful view of the parking lot!!!

I immediately called the front desk, told them about this huge box, and then about making reservations two months in advance and my only request being a pool view. The manager was very apologetic and immediately moved us to the seventh floor with a beautiful pool view.

The rooms are very nice, a little on the dark and drab side, not the bright tropical colors one imagines with a name like Caribe Royale. They were very clean and well stocked with towels, ironing board, iron, (even though I brought my own), hairdryer.

The size of the Caribe Royale Resort is huge. There are 5 or 6 towers where the suites are located, behind those buildings is the Convention Center and behind that are where the villas are located with another pool and private lake.

The pool is gorgeous. There is a waterfall, a waterslide, several hottubs, canvas cabanas, and plenty of lounge chairs. There could have been more table and chairs though.

There is a small bar at the poolside that also serves sandwiches and burgers, the drinks are pricey. A can of beer was $5.00. We received two free drink vouchers for upto $7.50 each so that was a nice treat.

The patio for the pool is very large and spacious. They have a small vending cart which sells pool toys and other items. Also, you can have your hair weaved out by the pool.

It is very very tropical and one of the nicest pools I have seen at a resort other than places we have stayed in the Carribean.

The restaurants range from formal where suitcoats are required to deli style where there are premade sandwiches and salads. There is a hot food section in the deli which serves full meals to carry out if you wish. The casual restaurant serves a nice breakfast buffet.

The staff was friendly and courteous. We never saw the person who made up our room, she was very thorough. I left a bracelet out by mistake and when we came back she had put it on my pillow. The beds are very comfortable pillowtop mattress and the pillows were probably the best ones I have everhad in a hotel room, and I am very picky about pillows.

We had my daughters softball team over for a swim on one of the afternoons and some of the parents. They all loved it and many would stay there next time. The pool area is so large that even having 15 girls in the pool didn't make a dent.

We will definitely make a return trip to Orlando, there is soooo much to do and staying at the Caribe was very central to everywhere we went. Disney and Universal is 15 minutes away, and the choices of restaurants are great.

This was a wonderful trip and the best part was watching my daughters college softball team play great.
