Pros: Welcoming staff, clean rooms, pool area, restaurants, conference center
Cons: Pricey, nothing within walking distance, complimentary bus schedule
The Bottom Line: I would recommend the Caribe Royale for your vacation. It is somewhat upscale, but you are treated right!

| TNT82794's Full Review: Caribe Royale Resort Suites and Villas |
The Caribe Royale is a hotel that I would consider 4-stars on a 5-star scale. Room rates at the Caribe Royal range from $170 - $300 per night, depending on the size of the room. I happened to stay in what they consider a "king-sized" suite, which was a very good size and comfortable. The suite included a sofa bed, so two couples, or a family of 4 could sleep in their comfortably. The suite also included a microwave and a mini-refrigerator
The lower price was a queen-sized suite, which, according to the caribe royale website (www.cariberoyale.com), includes the same amenities as the king suite.
The higher end price is for a two-bedroom villa, which includes a full kitchen, and has the conveniences of home, and gives almost a timeshare-type feel.
I recently stayed at the Caribe Royale to attend a conference. Like with all conferences, they are held at very nice hotels, and the Caribe Royale was no disappointment. There were four major towers that surrounded the pool area, which included a small water-slide. The pool was a decent size, but tended to be crowded at times. Given that their was a highly attended conference at the time, this probably lead to the high overcrowdedness in some areas.
The staff was very hospitable and friendly. Checking-in was a breeze, and they had many staff on hand to answer my questions regarding the hotel and the Orlando area. The concierge, like most Orlando Hotels, try to push timeshare presentations, which having experience, I never fall for, no matter what they are offering to accomodate your time.
The restaurants at the hotel ranged from fine-dining, where plates where in the $40-$50 range, to a pizza and sandwich place where prices were relatively normal. I didn't eat at the fine-dining restaurant, as the budget didn't allow for it. However, I did eat at the pizza place quite often, and found the food to be good for the price.
They did have a complimentary bus that takes its guests to Disney in the morning, and another one that took its guests to the Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island area. This was OK if you want to shop. However, if you want to visit Pleasure Island, the night club spot of the Disney Resort, you would be better off with your own transportation, as the bus returned to at 11:00, which may sound late, but Pleasure Island doesn't start hopping until after that.
Now, I didn't rent a car during my visit, which I do now regret. I regret not having a vehicle as there were no good restaurants within a short-walk of the hotel. There was a Chinese Buffet across the street, but for dinner, the wait was nearly an hour. When I did eat there for lunch, the food was cold and well below my standards for a Chinese Buffet. Orlando has a lot to offer, and if I had a car, I would have been a lot better off.
Other than that, the resort was really nice. Their conference center was phenomenal and can accomodate any organization wishing to have a conference there. I would definitely highly recommend this resort to tourists who want a very nice hotel. However, you are going to have to pay for it.
