| yakkowarner's Full Review: Caribou Ground Coffee Colombia Timana 12 Oz |
I bought this from Cariboucoffee.com The description on the bag states "Our most mellow and balanced coffee. Colombia Timand has caramel sweetness with a clean floral nuance mingling with delicate acidity. Simply the perfect everyday coffee!" Also looking at the package it classifies it as a light roast. On their scale I estimate it to be a 3 out of 10 (10 being the darkest roast). I started with 6 scoops of coffee. I put it in my electric round grinder and ground it to a medium consistency. Then I put it in my French press and leave it for 4 minutes before plunging. I use bottled water because my tap water is highly chlorinated. Aroma There is a mild floral sweet need to the smell. It also has a mild aroma of "coffee". Nothing extraordinary, just pleasing. You know you're in for a treat. Taste It tastes like very smooth coffee with a hint of sweetness. No bitterness and no off flavors. I also do not taste caramel like the package says. Aftertaste The after taste is warm (meaning a slight acid present) and sweet. No bad after taste, nothing unpleasant. Summary I don't consider this a great cup of coffee. To me it is boring, but very very good boring. The type of boring I would love to wake up to every morning. But boring none the less which is why I'm keeping it at a score of 4, I also view this as the same quality as Gevalia. If you're looking at Colombia coffee at a lower price then try Zabars. It is a touch lower in the floral department, but much cheaper. If you are a perfectionist try one of the "one time only" roastings done by Caribou coffee, but expect to pay around $20 - $30 a pound for it.
