Carmex® has been an old standby winter after winter for many years. My lips feel moist and protected from September through April, never being overly greasy nor dry and stiff, with lipstick or gloss, or even alone.
Before I discovered Carmex®, I used Blistex®and ChapStick® to protect my lips from the cold wintry elements. Though both did the job, neither fit well under my lipstick. They both tended to caused it to cake or crack, never looking natural and smooth. With Carmex®, that was not a problem. It acts as though I'd applied a sheer base before adding a coat of lipstick on top. And, once my lipstick was applied, the feel was light and appeared seamless. The resulting color was true, exactly as it was meant to be.
Okay. That's under lipstick. But, how about without anything else? Well, that too passes my "lip test" just as satisfactorily. I mentioned that I get no stiff coverage with Carmex®, unlike with other brands. By "stiff"I mean that the product has a stiff, non-pliant consistency during application and retains a sticky, dry feeling once applied to my lips. An annoying, less than satisfactory characteristic I experienced when using ChapStick®, most particularly.
Like Blistex, Carmex cures cold sores and fever blisters as it combats those dry, rough chapped lips. Both speeds soothing, healing action to relieve the discomfort of all these little irritating, highly-visible nuisances which plague an area that is impossible to hide. The difference is that Carmex leaves your lips moist with a light gloss. Not so with Blistex. I like that feature offered by Carmex; it's one of the reasons I have come back to it time after time.
So, why do I not use it all the time? you ask. Simple. The price. Ranging from $1.75 to $3.50 at times, I found one of the other two at half the cost many times. My frugal personae would not allow me to pass up the 'bargain'. Recently, while shopping at the local Wal-Mart SuperCenter, I found my old friend on sale for .93 and picked up three--one of each of the popular packages/sizes. I would return later to triple this purchase, while the price was right. This size--the .5 oz jar--is my least favorite, although I keep it on my bedside table to use just before turning in at night. It works its dependable magic while I sleep and keeps my lips moist the whole night through. Since I've come back to the master, I don't think I'll settle for anything else...not even at half the price!
For those of you who have never used this little gem, look for the little white jar with a lemon-yellow cap. The purpose and directions for use is printed right on top of the cap: UseCarmexfor COLD SORES, FEVER BLISTERS, and CHAPPED LIPS. Apply freely to affected parts.WARNING: Use only as directed. Keep all medicine out of children's reach.
Simple enough for even the person who has issues with following directions. If you have questions or encounter the unforeseen problem, the website address is also printed on the cap. Here it is: http://www.carma-labs.com.
Use it with confidence and have a safe, fun, and cheerful New Year's Eve! As always, thanks for reading, rating, and commenting.
