| NoxDrako's Full Review: Carrabba's Italian Grill |
Let me first say this review is not of the address listed, it is, instead, the Carrabba's on Arkwright rd in Macon GA. There is no city listing for Macon, so sue me.
My husband and I don't go out very often, unless it is a place where someone asks "Would you like fries or an apple pie with that?"
We decided, after what had happened to us last weekend, (See my Moving...uggh epinion under moving tips) we needed to do something for US. The last time we had been out to a nice place was our anniversary in September.
We arrived at Carrabba's after practically flipping a coin to go there. We were both in the mood for steak, and the steakhouses just seemed a little too....boring. At 9:30 PM on a Friday night, most every other restaurant was jam packed, and the parking lot at Carrabba's led me to believe we would be waiting quite a long time before we were seated, but instead, we were at a table within 10 minutes. They do take reservations, but we were not treated any different because we had none.
As we were shown to our table, no less than 4 of the waiters and waitresses greeted us and asked how we were doing. I got the impression the place was very informal and friendly, but FAST. We observed the chef's behind the waffle house like counter entertaining the patrons seated there as they made their orders.
We were shown to a very nice, quiet table, and our waitress, Leanna, was there immediately, asking first how we were doing, and then asked if we would like a drink to start. We did not order wine, but instead stuck to soda, and ordered an appetizer of mozzarella sticks while we perused the menu.
The prices there were moderate, between 10 and 20 dollars per entree, and most included pasta and salad. I had the Pasta Carrabba, a pasta alfredo with grilled chicken, and my husband had the Steak marsella. Mine was good, but nothing really to write home about. His, on the other hand, was exceptional. my husband is somewhat of a steak expert, as meat is what is his favorite food. One bite of this steak sent him practically into orgasm...I kid you not, he liked it that much. The Marsella wine sauce was something new to him, and he went nuts over it.
The portions there were extremely generous, and we had to bring home over half our order. The waitress was prompt, attentive and courteous. The atmosphere was relaxing and conducive to a friendly setting. The wait staff, on 3 occasions while we were there sang to couples on their anniversaries.(The song sounded a lot like an Italian Happy Birthday)
With the generous portions of the entree's we did not order dessert, though I am sorry we did not, they had a chocolate and I believe raspberry cheesecake that looked delicious.
All told with 2 meals and 2 drinks, our bill came just over 40 dollars. Well worth the price considering the service and the food quality. I would recommend Carrabbas to anyone wanting to have a good time and a good meal. This would make a perfect addition to a night on the town with movies and dinner.
