| lakers0340's Full Review: Casio TV-900 2.3 in. Handheld TV |
I bought this portable TV a few days ago because the price had come down to $79.99. I didn't expect much from it, but it still dissapointed.
Screen
The screen measures only 2.3". I knew this from the start, but what I didn't expect was the horrible resolution. Nowhere on the box did it say what the number of pixels it had. That was probably my clue that the resolution is bad.
Like all lcds that I have used before, it is hard to see in direct sunlight. This unit uses Ti-STN technology which is inferior to TFT technology.
Reception
Reception was surprisingly pretty good. I received better reception than my indoor antenna on my big screen TV. I only tried the standard 2-13 channels so I can't comment on the UHF channels.
Extra Features
The reason I chose this specific model was that it had an AV input jack. I realize that most people would not need such a feature, but it is a feature not found on some of the more expensive models. It also has an AC power jack, and an earphone jack. Both AC power adapter and earphones are NOT included in the package. It can also be run off 4 AA batteries which are also not included.
There is also a flip out stand in the back of the unit. It's very flimsy and you don't get much choice in the angle you want to keep the TV at.
Should I buy it?
I really see no reason for anyone to buy this model. The screen is too small and the resolution is too low to be viewed comfortably. If you are strapped for cash, be patient, save up enough cash and at least buy the Casio TV-570 model. It has TFT technology and the screen is a little bigger 2.5".
