| mookiekong's Full Review: Casio Cassiopeia E-125 Pocket PC |
I now have both my Palm IIIc and Casio E-125 hooked up to my computer. They both sync very well with Outlook 2000 (the E-125 through ActiveSync and the Palm IIIc through Pocket Mirror). Which do I actively use most? The Palm IIIc.
The E-125 is a beautiful machine. The best thing about it? The screen. There's no beating the screen on this machine. The 16-bit color is knock-down gorgeous and looking at pictures on the screen is a dream.
Like all other PocketPC based machines, the E-115 has all the Microsoft amenities. You'll be able to sync up your Microsoft Word and Excel documents to the machine and do edits while on the road. You'll be able to use the built-in Microsoft Internet Explorer to surf the web through a Compact Flash modem. You'll even be able to read ebooks with the built-in Microsoft Reader. The E-125 syncs perfectly with Microsoft Outlook 2000 on the desktop and you'll be able to carry all your contacts, calendar appointments, memos, and even email with you.
So, why do I still have the old IIIc hooked up to the computer? As much as I like the E-125, it's a pain to carry around. The thing is a brick. It's too large for my pant pocket and when used with the slipcase the thing is gargantuan. A PDA that I can't carry around is a PDA that is not useful. At least with the larger of the Palm family IIIc I can put it in my pocket and have it with me. Another thing that I dislike about the E-125 is that (like all PocketPCs) I can't have instant access to some of my most needed functions. For instance on the IIIc there are four buttons on the front, I have instant one-button access to my calendar, contacts, to-do list, and memos. But on the E-125 there are three buttons (a launcher program, calendar, and contacts) on the front of the machine, but none of them work unless I turn on the machine first. Sure, that's only one extra button push, but it's just nice to have a single button pull up a needed feature.
Yes, I still carry the E-125 from time to time with me on trips, but I like having the IIIc with me because it's just so handy (and simple to use also). Maybe what I should have gotten was a smaller iPaq, but that thing bloats up to a size larger than the E-125 when you add a CF sleeve to it (I currently have a 64MB CF card in the E-125). I wish the E-125 was smaller so that I could carry it around with me all the time.
