| Cheley_'s Full Review: Casio Cassiopeia EM-500 Pocket PC |
I went out today in search of a Pocket PC that I could fall in love with now that my romance with the iPaq is over and I found it. The Cassiopeia EM500 is truly on the mark.
For those of us who want a lightweight unit (7.7oz) with a good processing speed (150MHz) and lots of focus on the multimedia aspect of these gadgets, this is definitely the one. The Cassiopeia EM500 uses the MMC (multimedia card) memory system which means that it can easily interface with the Sony cards which are, by the way, less expensive than the compact flash cards for adding more memory. Great idea. Now when you make a video, you can pop the MMC memory card out of the camcorder and play it back on your Pocket PC. The Cassiopeia EM500 also sports a nice, sleek outer appearance. It's not as plain or bulky as the other Cassiopeia models.
Of course, the EM500 comes with all of the regular pre-installed applications like Pocket Word and Pocket Excel. But it also comes with a mobile picture viewer for viewing CMF movies and a mobile video player. The only real drawback to this wonderful little creature is its lack of more memory as the EM500 only comes with 16MB installed. However, as mentioned before, the MMC memory cards are relatively inexpensive (8MB cost $29 and 16MB cost $49 just to give you an idea) so this isn't a huge problem.
In short, the Cassiopeia EM500 is the Pocket PC you'll want to own if you'd like to have a healthy balance of work and play activities at your fingertips.
