Pros: Nice screen, batteries can be changed (with purchased spare), add memory without sleeve.
Cons: No cradle, no flash rom, short battery life.
The Bottom Line: Nicest screen. Can be found at good price. Easy memory expansion. Future expansion possibilities with MMC accessories.

| barrypayne's Full Review: Casio Cassiopeia EM-500 Pocket PC |
Since most of the recent attention is on the Compaq Ipaq, I will gear my review to a comparison of major points which led me to buy the Casio:
1. I can carry 80MB of memory in the EM500 in my button-up top shirt pocket with no additional sleeve to purchase (more when they come out with larger capacity MMC cards). With the Ipaq I would only be able to carry 32MB because adding the sleeve would make it impossible to put in my pocket.
2. I don't use a PDA outdoors. If you do, the Ipaq is your only bet. Outdoors, the Casio has to be turned up to it's brightest setting to be seen. Indoors, the Compaq has a "milky" look to the display, the Casio is absolutely beautiful.
3. The Ipaq has an internal battery that can't be changed. The Casio has a changable battery. In some cases, this might be a big deal (no access to power outlet for a long period).
The one thing about the Casio I was concerned with was it does not have flash rom to upgrade the operating system (Windows CE 3.0). However, I called Casio and they told me you will be able to send in the unit for a chip upgrade for the new Windows CE 4.0 . I can deal with being without the unit for a week or two for this. A small price to pay for the nicest screen of all the PDA's on the market.
Hope this helps.
