Pros: Decent software, Easy to use.
Cons: *Dreadful* to use in daylight or strong indoor light. Expensive.
The Bottom Line: Get the more expensive Cassiopeia, unless you have easy access to accessories for the EM-500.

| kyte50's Full Review: Casio Cassiopeia EM-500 Pocket PC |
I have had my EM-500 for about 4 months now. I confess to having second thoughts about it all, now that I have had it for a while.
There is no doubt that it works exactly as its supposed to, WinCE is fine as an OS (unless you happen to be passionately anti-MS) and the available software is fine, if a tad overdone (really...who in their right mind is going to try to compose long documents or fiddle with spreadsheets on this tiny thing). For me, its advantage lies in its entertainment value. I have a lot of MS Reader format books, and I love the quick fix of a game of solitaire or freecell (which isnt standard but which can be downloaded from Microsoft). I work nightshift in a psych hospital and sometimes I just cannot decide which book to take to work. Having the option of taking several is just marvellous.
However, with the benefit of hindsight (which is always extremely perceptive) I wish I had bought the E-125 instead. Extra memory for the EM-500 is not easy to get outside the USA, and it's in a proprietary format which in turn makes it more expensive than compact flash which seems to be becoming a standard for both PDA and digital cameras.
For this reason, if considering a Cassiopeia, I would recommend the E-125 rather than the EM-500 (or alternatively one of the later models.) Look for forward compatibility. I did not, and whilst I really like my Casio, its limitations are now causing me to contemplate selling and replacing it with something more flexible.
