Pros:Very shallow, made of stoneware, cute paw print design
The Bottom Line: When I needed a shallow pet dish, this was the perfect answer! It's been a great pet bowl.
I have a cute placemat with paw prints all around the edges, and the three bowls that I have sitting on it also have a paw print design. Two of them are made by a company called Castlemere Creations, and the one I am reviewing is actually considered a cat paw bowl, but it can be for either dogs or cats.

What attracted me to this bowl is that it's smaller, and oval shaped. We have a matching 6" diameter bowl for our dogs dry food, but since our Australian Silky Terrier is a small dog, (10 pounds, she's the size of a large cat), I wanted a smaller bowl for her canned dog food. She also has long fur around her face, and it's easier for her to eat her dinner without getting food stuck in her fur if her bowl is more shallow, this fit the bill.
The bowl is made out of stoneware, and measures 6 1/2" long and 5" wide, and is in an oval shape, so of course the ends are tapered. The color of the bowl is cream, with a navy blue ridge at the top, and navy blue paw prints scattered all over the inside and outside of the bowl.
What I love about this bowl and why I purchased it, is that it is just over 1 1/2" deep, so it's very shallow and works well for a small pet with long fur.
I love the shape and size of this bowl. Unlike the other brand we have, it's sides are slanted instead of completely vertical, which helps her get the food out easier. It's well made, and we have used this for several years now.
Although it's dishwasher safe, I don't put it in my dishwasher, and I don't even clean it with dishsoap, because if I do - no matter how well I rinse it after the washing, my dog won't eat out of it. She somehow smells the scent of the soap, and refuses to eat her food.
So after every meal, I have a special dish brush and I thoroughly scrub it with very hot water, and wipe it dry. This works, and she will eat out of it if I "clean" it in this manner. I've never had a dog react this way to having their bowl cleaned out! Maybe I need to get some unscented dishwashing soap, if they even make such a thing.
I just filled this up with water to see how much it will hold, and it comfortably holds one cup. This would be a great bowl for using with small puppies or kittens, as it's so shallow. Since it's stoneware, it's also heavier than plastic bowls, and our Silky doesn't slide it all over the kitchen floor when she is eating her dinner. It pretty much stays in place.
This is a great little pet bowl and it looks so cute sitting on the paw print place mat! If you are looking for a well made shallow pet bowl, this is the one to get. I've had it for a few years, I think I purchased it at Ross Outlet stores in Grand Junction, Colorado. I don't recall what I paid, but it wasn't more than a few dollars.
A special thanks to Billie for adding this to the Epinions database for me!
