Probably the least appealing aspect of being a cat owner is that, eventually, the litter must be changed. It isn't THAT awful, it just isn't something I look forward to. With that in mind, I am especially attracted to litters that promise "Longer Lasting Freshness". Being that I am an absolute weakling and hate to lift kitty litter bags, I am attracted to litters that promise to "More litter than other brands". So imagine my delight when I saw the Dust Stopper bag on the shelf of my local discount store. This litter claimed to be everything I was looking for - and more! Odor-eliminating, not dusty, more litter per bag, and to top it off, it is made from recycled paper! So what if it was a dollar more or so than the other litters? It was the cure to my litter troubles! Who could ask for anything more?

I could.

My first indication that this wasn't the best litter in town was when I poured it into the cat box and the "Dust Stopper" created the biggest cloud of dust I had ever seen. I could live with that. I mean, dust was never high on my list of litter complaints. But when my house already smelled like kitty litter not 12 hours after pouring it in the box, I knew I had trouble.

Not only did Dust Stopper NOT eliminate dust, it didn't provide anywhere close to "long lasting freshness". But... it gets even worse.

This litter, more than any other I have used before, gets all over EVERYTHING. It stayed wetter longer and stuck to the feet of my cats who then made litter paths all over the house. You could follow the litter trails like someone had been dropping bread crumbs!

Two days later, I couldn't take it anymore and bought some good ol' american Tidy Cat. I mixed the remainder of the Dust Stopper with the Tidy Cat until it was gone, and that seemed to do better.

I don't recommend this litter to anyone who likes their carpet clean and their air smelling fresh. It just doesn't work.
