Cat's Pride Katkit Kitty Litter box, I love you, I love you not.....

Written: Jun 03 '01 (Updated Jun 29 '01)
Pros:No Scooping, just toss away
Cons:expensive, very little litter, only lasts 24 hours in my house.
The Bottom Line: Expensive for daily use, but would be great for vacations, or if you have an ill kitty that need to be isolated.

I Love You Truly, Truly I Do....I just know this is what all cat owners/lovers sing when they are doing that, Oh so wonderful duty of cleaning the cat litter boxes. Oh yes, smelling that nice ripe aroma of kitty poop and urine! Yup, I know it's just gotta be the most favorite part of owning a cat.

WHAT? It's not your most appealing chore to do! Well, yes, the litter does smell pretty bad, but.... OK, OK, I was just kidding. Boy, feline fanatics can be a little touchy on some matters.

Now, I have eight very lovely cats, each with their very own quirks. Let's see, I'll start with my oldest and best buddy, Rosebud. (he's a boy, long story about the name) He is a large black & white tuxedo cat. He is at this very moment, sleeping directly in front of me on my computer desk. And yes he snores! I can't make a move in this house without one furry black & white cat at my feet, in my lap, curled around my head, I think you get the picture. He will even attack anyone who he thinks is hurting me, my husband no longer tickles me, due to my wonderful attack cat!

Pele' is a medium, silky haired black cat with huge gold eyes. He is my husbands cat, but after living with us for over 7 years he is warming up to me. He is very regal and the King of our household.

Bungee is a medium haired, fluffy grey cat who tries his best to be everything a cat is not. Clumsy comes to mind very quickly. He greets anyone who come to the door and loves to sit in the windowsill when he not falling off of it. Not the brightest cat in the world, but he is very sweet.

Bubbles is Pele's look-a-like, except where Pele' is always so graceful and royal, you might say Bubbles is on the commem side. He is shorter, squater and his hair is not always as well groomed as should be. I expect that is due to him finding all the dusty nooks in my house.

Katie our oldest girl is a beautiful calico, mostly white with large brown and grey patches. She is very shy and not at all friendly to strangers, she really only likes family.
She is 9 years old and short and very tubby. She claims my tubby hips as her personal sleeping spot.

Bootsie is also a calico. She was adopted on my wedding day. We don't really know exactly how old she is, but we do know she is a sweety. She perfers to sleep with my 17 year old son or my 15 year old daughter.

Syenna, a cute little bitty grey tabby. She was found by Krista, my oldest girl. She is a snuggle bug of a cat. She has claimed my 4 year old daughter as her own and follows her around the house. She even wakes her up from naps by sticking her cold nose on Brennah's cheek. Needless to say she is banned from the bedroom during naptime.

Ester the Pester is a tortie. Meaning she has no white on her at all, but is several different colors. She is the Queen of the house, keeping ALL the other cats in line, even the 16 pounder who is twice her size. Her motto is "Don't mess with me" AH, but that does not mean the humans, that is where she gets the tag Pester. She is the biggest pest, constantly begging for attention!

There now that you have met all my kitties, you can imagine the amount of litter we go through and all the scooping etc.... YUK. We have a couple a diggers, a slinger, a drop and run, a only a clean little box will do and some normal dig, poop & pee and be on your way cats.

Everyone hated cleaning the litter boxes, Whew, our cats leave us some really stinky messes! SO, after seeing the Cat's Pride disposable litter box at the store we decided to try them.

I am happy to say all our cats used them, but they do have some negatives.

1. Barely an inch of little in the bottom.
2. Very flimsy plastic
3. Very easy for a large cat to tip over.
4. Only last for a day in our house, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't last a week in any house.
5. Messy to open, you must cut the cover and try to peel it off, only it never comes off in one piece.
6. Not big enough. I have some pretty big boys who miss occasionally due to their butts hanging over the edge.
7. Expensive

There are some good points too.

1. No more scooping
2. Easy to remove-pick up and put in trash bag and whisk out to the dumpster.
3. No more cleaning out the bottom of a nasty, smelly cat litter box.
4.Ummmmmmm?

Although, we continue to use these, I like another brand better, the disposable litter box by Tidy Cats is bigger and has more litter and last us about 3 days.

The Cat's Pride is about 12-14 inches long and 8-9 inches wide. I don't have a fresh one to see the exact size. Sorry.
It grey and the sides curve out, I would guess to help catch cat litter. A paper cover lays over the cat litter that must be removed prior to using. Overall, just a flimsy version of a cat litter box.

I buy mine at my local Meijers for $1.99. Although, I am re-thinking this, as it is getting very expensive. And I still have a mess to clean up from my slinger who get the litter everywhere and from the occasional tip-over.

I think these would be great for when you go on vacation, but for daily use, it just to darn expensive.

This write-off is in honor of "bluehawq's" first. She has decided to call it "My Silly Pet". Though we may not all have silly pets, we may know someone who does. Below is a list of participants, please be sure to check all these fine people out. And always remember to spay or neuter your pet!
