| pboy's Full Review: Cat's Pride Katkit |
I am, by every definition of the phrase, a dog person. The qualitites of a canine companion far out way the qualities of the lesser feline compnanion. But, that's just my opinion and the subject of another review.
Even, as a dog person, I have a male cat that is part of the family. Being a part of the family, the cat travels with us where ever we go...
One of the main differences between cats and dogs, at least in our household, is their choice between indoor and outdoor plumbing. The dogs brings their doin's to nature, while the cat stinks up the house with his business.
For everyday use, these disposable litter trays are no an option. The tray is expensive, almost the same price for a single tray as a 5 lb bag of litter.
The trays are flimsy. Attempting to displose of the tray is a small adventure. If you're not careful, the complete contents will find their way on the floor.
Our cat is a little particular in his toilet time. The contents on the container don't even last a day. If we left this out for more than a day we'd quickly find that all the house plants had been christened. The tray is a little small and it isn't really that full of litter.
We also have the added issues of the dogs in the house. Like all good dogs, there is nothing they like better than a high protein treat that just happens to be in the litter box. In our house, the litter box has to have a preventive hood... which actually comes in handy since our cat has a knack for kicking out from fragrant stool.
So... there is nothing good about these trays? Not exactly.
We also travel often, and when we travel the 3 dogs and single cat come along for the ride. This is no problem for the dogs, they can do their business as long as there is a 3 by 3 inch square of grass for the each of the them. The cat on the other hand, needs a trveling box.
In these situations, it is a pain to lug a couple pounds of litter, a hooded tray, a rool of paper towls, a bottle of lyson, a bottle of 409, etc. So, we pack 2 or 3 trays instead and place it in a location the dogs can't get to.
In these situations, the trays are perfect. No fusing around with cleaning and refilling, just chuck the old and place out the new.
