I'm the mom of Chiminou, a 15 year old diabetic tomcat (main coon). HE has been diagnosed less than a year ago. Chiminou and I are still adjusting to his new condition.
One of the effect of this disease is excessive drinking meaning, excessive peeing! Even though his insuline dosage has been augmented, he still drinks more than a regular cat. About the equivalent of 2 or 3 normal cats, depending on the day.
He weighs around 11 pounds, not overweight. He is a tall typical maincoon and, very handsome if I might add! HE's In good shape apart from the diabetes.
As you can imagine, I use out a lot of litter. I also bought an automatic litterbox, to help me out. Wanting to save a few bucks. I thought I would try a cheaper litter brand! My fave brand is not listed in the database, it's Purina MAXX Scoop.
With Cat's Pride, I was saving about 1$ per pack.
I noticed the Cat's Pride scoopable cat litter at my local wal-mart store. I was about to buy the bigger container when something made me hesitate (what if this stuff doesn't work?) so I picked the smaller ONE (good choice) 4.50$ for 3.2kg! Still expensive in my book. I opened the lid to check it out, a neat looking sand-like texture, looks so clean and fresh, the granules are very small like sand. I was anxious to try it out!
I arrived home, remove the left over litter from my littermaid litterbox and poured the cat's pride litter right in. I was amazed how light this stuff is, it pours out like sand. There are tiny blue grains which are probably scented with baby powder. This litter looks very neat and fresh. The color is grayish-beige, very pale, does not look like regular litter nor regular clumping litter. I didn't notice the baby powder scent at all nor any dust. It took half the container to fill up my littermaid.
I really wanted this litter to work out. I know it's very girlie but, the color matched so well with the littermaid, it fit well, and almost looked like there wasn't any ugly litter lying in there.
PRO
First
The bucket is very light. I always struggle when carrying my preferred litter on my own. It is very heavy, and in order to save money and avoid too many trips to the store, I always buy the bigger size.
Second
It looks clean, fresh, the color is very neat, like sand. It fits very well with my littermaid. It doesn't look like dirt or crushed rocks. The grains are very tiny, and does not seem to cling to the paws as much. The tracking is less visible on the floor. Bigger grains are harder to vacuum, and easier to feel under your feet when you walk on them.
Third
Flushable: yes it truly is, I have tried it, it works great. I only flush poop. The littermaid easily takes care of the rest.
I live in an apartment, so it doesn't matter to me that it is not recommended for septic tanks.
Does it work
The first time my cat used it. Worked very well. The littermaid raked the clump just like normal.
Second time, it left some residu on the rake, but nothing serious. From then ON it went downhill...
The second day : The Clumps REALLY fell apart. They broke into into tiny unscoopable clumps!!! I've tried 3 different scoops... none of them could do it. Even the smallest pee-clumps would either stick to the rake (the rake is the big comb that removes and pushes clumps in the waste bin) and disintegrate as the rake pulled back into position or break apart into smaller particles. So, I removed all the dirty clumps with an old food-scoop, cleaned it all like new and hoped it was just bad luck, that it would all work well after...but it didn't!
The urine reaches the bottom of the pan (even after I tried puttin' more cat's pride litter in the pan) and sticks there! The instructions require to put at least 3 inches. I can't do that, the littermaid's maximum fill-line is about 2 inches.
The supposed baby powder scent wasn't present either!
It left a lot of debris on the rake of my littermaid. It would not remove anymore clumps, they would just break apart.. This litter does not clump hard fast enough.
Third day :
I threw the rest of the litter all out on the third day. It was getting stinky and very unhealthy, small clumps were all over the litter pan.. big mess. I had to wash the bottom-part of my littermaid and it was a harder task than usual. Had to use a brush to scrap the hardened clay off the bottom.
Now from my experience and my particular situation, this has to be the worst clumping litter I have ever tried. Even generic-brands clump better and faster than this one. I still believe cat's pride is made of good quality litter-granules, but it does not clump well. In my situation, it is just not appropriate, it does not do what it is supposed to do.

Nice packaging
The 3.2kg plastic container is white, all plastic. The lid is pink. Covered with a flashy sky-blue paper stripe, with white and pink and yellow lettering and a darkblue cat. Very attractive packaging.
My Conclusion
I do not recommend this litter for the littermaid users. The littermaid is programmed to wait only 10 min after the cat has left the premises, to start raking out the waste. I guess 10 min is insuficiant for this litter to clump hard enough. And filling up to the desired level is also not possible for this automatic litterbox. I cannot recommended it since it truly didnt work at all for me.
This litter may work for owners of only one small cat, in good health, if used in a very deep, non-automatic pan, filled up to the recommended depth of at least 3 inches. Therefore, the clumps would have more time to settle and harden, the urine would probably not reach the bottom as much.
Since I can't try it out as suggested, I cannot tell if it would really work, even in the best of conditions, therefore.... My verdict remains the same.. NOT recommended.
