mike_sutton's Full Review: Cavagna North America 13734 AD-2G Universal Gaslow...
Overview:
This gauge is designed to let you know how much propane you have in your small propane gas tank. (or at least in theory).
Installation: It's real simple. Turn off your gas at the tank. You just unscrew your grill fitting off your tank, screw this onto the valve and and then screw your gas hose into this.
Turn on your gas, and you should see the valve needle rise to indicate how much gas is in your tank.
Usage, in theory: The gauge needle moves from full towards empty to indicate how much gas is left in your tank. So when you've got half a tank of gas, then your needle should be at 50% indication.
Usage, in reality: I found that the usage indicator is no where near what you'd think you'd get.
Instead of the needle being at 50% to indicate you have half a tank, it never moved.
As I used the grill more and more, every time before grilling I'd check to see if I had enough gas left in the tank. It'd stay on full "all the time". Reminded me of a car I used to have that would stay on full until it got to about a quarter tank.
Then finally one day, after weeks of grilling, I noticed it had moved. It was now down around 50%. So I thought I had plenty of gas to grill some stuff on. I fired up the grill and let it get hot for about 10-15 minutes and then threw on the meat.
Out of curosity, I checked the gauge again. it was now at 25% and getting close to the "red zone". Oh no!. The gauge had gone from 50% to 25% in a matter of about 20 minutes.
Finally I was almost done grilling about 5-10 minutes later.... I noticed my flame was starting to flicker... I quickly checked the gauge and it was showing empty.
So... bascially, 10+ hours of grilling and no change on the gauge, then in the last 30 minutes of it being on, it takes a nose dive towards empty.
Sounds to me that these gauges were a good idea, but they lack being pratical.
Summary: I was really disappointed in this gauge and how poorly it worked. It definately wasn't worth the money spent.
