The Bottom Line: A nice trip on a very lovely ship, but pretty expensive -- the extras really add up.

| andrea595's Full Review: Celebrity Infinity |
My husband & I sailed on the Celebrity Infinity in January 2002 for our honeymoon through the Southern Caribbean. We decided ahead of time how much money we would spend, so paying the extras for wine, soft drinks, and shore excursions really didn't bother us as much as others. It wasn't cheap, though, even though we booked & sailed only 3 months after 9/11.
Rooms: My 1st cruise experience was with Princess, and the Infinity was a much more elegant ship with nicer cabins. We had a deluxe balcony room, and the shower was actually big enough to shower in! The rooms were tastefully decorated -- very modern.
Ship: We loved exploring the ship. There was so much to see that we spent our at-sea days adventuring around. It was hard to get jacuzzi or pool time because of so many people, though.
Food: We had heard that Celebrity's food was incredible, but in our estimation,it was good, but not 4 or 5-star restaurant good. I mean, an overdone lobster tail is pretty gauche for such a nice ship. Also, it was VERY hard to get into the informal buffet (???) for dinner as it was constantly booked, so if we didn't want to dress up for dinner (again!!), we had to take room service, which isn't bad if you're on your honeymoon, but probably not the best for a vacation. Oh, and the dining room is right above the engines, which were MUCH noisier than on Princess. We never tried the United States restaurant, but wish we had.
Staff: Honestly, every waiter, assistant waiter, cabin steward, bartender ------ every employee of Celebrity that we saw was tired. It seemed like they tried to be nice and helpful, but were being worked to death. They were much, much more exhausted than the staff on Princess. I found it troubling that it seemed like we were taking advantage of a lot of overworked people. It also seemed like they were required to push drinks at you in order to get those included tips in the price.
Entertainment: Other reviews have slammed Celebrity for this, but we thought their shows were very enjoyable (except for occasionally noticing how tired the entertainers were, too!)
Shore Excursions: We signed up for excursion on all 5 islands of our tour, which would have been too much. However, 2 of them were canceled by Celebrity (snorkeling because of bad weather & I forgot the reason for the other cancellation.) Honestly, we weren't too sorry because we'd definitely over-booked ourselves. We enjoyed our shore excursions on St. Thomas (Magen's Bay is a must-see), St. Lucia, and Barbados, but they were expensive. I don't think we'd splurge that much if it wasn't our honeymoon. We found much more privacy on board when we were in port, so that was nice.
Other: The casino didn't do much for us, the photographers were pretty good, and I LOVED the beauty salon (too bad the staff was tired, though!).
