| LILvoyce's Full Review: Celestial Seasonings Black Cherry Berry |
I am quite a fan of Celestial Seasonings tea, so it is only natural that I want to try out every flavor they make. I thought that perhaps Celestial Seasonings Black Cherry Berry might be an interesting flavor. I had never tasted a tea with black cherry flavoring in it before.
What your getting
With Celestial Seasonings your not getting individually packaged tea bags with drawstrings or tags. You getting 20 tea bags that are packed in one pouch. The pouch is no big deal, and will keep your tea fresh providing you fold it back up each time you get a tea bag out. The pouch is then packed in a decorative paper box which is then wrapped in plastic.
This is an herbal tea, that contains no caffeine.

In my Opinion what Makes a Great Tea
It is true, I am very picky when it comes to teas. If I am going to give any ratings anything over than average, then you know it must be a great tea. What makes a great tea in my opinion? A great tea, is one that I can drink and ENJOY hot or cold, with or without sweetener. Its that simple. If I can't enjoy it in several different ways, then it won't be on my top priority when I consider purchasing. I am a gastric bypass patient and I want to be able to enjoy my teas hot and cold. I have had to give up my sodas, and that was very hard for me. I am replacing my soda habit with tea. I want variety in a nutshell.
My thoughts on the Black Cherry Berry
The very first time I brewed this tea, I was afraid I wasn't going to like it. I could smell a very sweet black cherry berry, and it reminded me of a cough drop scent my mother would make me eat when I was a child. Actually the tea didn't taste as strong as it smelled. When I drink my tea, I want to enjoy the aroma as much as I do the taste. I think both are equally important. I wasn't really feeling the Black Cherry Berry.
When brewed and steeped 4-6 minutes it will reach a golden color with a hint of amber in color. Consuming this tea hot without sugar is my preference. It doesn't have that aftertaste I experience with sweeteners. It still smells weird, but very doable. I can't stand this tea with sweetener. I use splenda. I tried one, and then two packets. I wasn't impressed. By the second packet I could sense a strong sour type taste like I did when I tried their Tangerine Orange Zinger. I don't know what it is about that taste, but I don't feel it belongs in tea.
I tried this tea cold, over ice. Bleck. It really tastes artificial in flavor when I did this. It almost tasted like a koolaid, but not quite.
The problem with this tea, is that it is light in flavor. The cherry would have been ok, but when they added this tartness, it really made the entire cup of tea ackward. The only way I can drink this tea is unsweetened and be able to enjoy it. I give it a less than average rating this time. Normally I am very fond of Celestial Seasonings Teas. Can't praise them this time.
