There comes a time in everyone's life when they must get up earlier than they want to and stay up far past the point of being tired...for most of us, that's every day. We live in a high-speed world where it takes working at very least 40 hours every week to make ends meet and many work a lot more than that, so varying ways of coping have been devised by the population. One of the favorite forms of coping...ingesting large doses of caffeine.

Personally, I am self-employed and work an average of 84-120 hours per week working seven days a week and attempting to care for a two-year-old while I'm at it. My workday often goes from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. the next day, I can never sleep in past 8:30 because my son is up and ready to start the day by then and the earlier I go to bed the less chance I'll get enough money for the day because I don't get everything possible done and now my son has decided naps are for babies...suffice to say I am often in urgent need of some artificial energy.
Once upon a time I obtained this energy by drinking mass doses of Dr. Pepper, a rather expensive and wholly unhealthy drink that wreaked havoc on my physical fitness and other health aspects...not that there's anything wrong with indulging once in a while, but several a day is just not a good idea. I like coffee fine, but I don't like it much after it's been reheated and it is difficult for one person to gulp down a pot very fast, so I generally didn't even bother. Finally, I turned back to the one drink I've always enjoyed but previously failed to keep on hand outside of the frigid months. Tea. Lots and lots of tea.
Now I have tea for every time of day and every mood, as well as varying teas for headaches, to fight off colds and allergies, and deal with certain monthly discomforts. All these teas are of varying quality and expense, and so I have a core selection of "staple teas", these are generally the teas that I can obtain locally at a decent price and are the first ones I reach for in the middle of my workday because I will have no problem replenishing them and may or may not have the time to savor the flavor and aroma of higher quality teas.
This is where Celestial Seasonings comes in, along with other "supermarket teas" such as Bigelow and Lipton, and my usual choice for the first cup of the morning is Morning Thunder. Morning Thunder is a flavorful, full-bodied black tea (blended with maté) that has almost as much caffeine as cola (and about half that of coffee). For those who don't like coffee because of its strong bitter taste black tea is a good substitute...if you like it as strong as I do there will still be a bit of bitterness, but much less than that of coffee.
On my aroma meter Morning Thunder barely registers. Many of my teas are very fragrant and are enjoyed as much for their scent as their flavor...this tea, on the other hand, is more there to take the edge off of fatigue than anything else. Its flavor is pleasant enough, but certainly not to be classified under indulgence in today's society. If one would rather not have any bitterness at all one could add sugar or honey and it would taste just fine, I personally drink this particular tea when I am not in the mood for anything sweet and so opt not to add anything in.
For the warmer months, Morning Thunder tastes similar to the traditional black tea so commonly iced on sunny days, though with a little fuller flavor that is just delicious iced...though a little more expensive than regular black tea. In short, if you desire a little caffeine kick in the mornings but don't want to fill your body with sugar or artificial sweeteners, Morning Thunder is a great way to go...it even has beneficial antioxidants! This and other Celestial Seasonings teas are generally available at most grocery stores.
