Pros: excellent quality optics
Cons: very heavy and bulky, to heavy for any extended use without tripod
The Bottom Line: If your a hardcore astronomer these would be a good choice but there are other binoculars to consider if on a budget

| cheetah1's Full Review: Celestron Giant Deluxe 71015 Binocular |
I have owned these Celestrons 20/80 binoculars for a few years now. When I first purchased these back in the late 90's inexpensive 20/80 binoculars were not available like they are now and the Celestron was the cheapest brand around. Now the consumer has more choices. Look in the astronomy magazines and other online search engines for great buys on giant binoculars.
These are very heavy binoculars only suitable for astronomical viewing. I'm a big strong guy but find these binoculars really not usable for more than a minute or so at a time because of the heavy weight. The binoculars are very long at 12 inches in length.
The celestron optics are excellent. I have seen giant zoom binoculars sold at sporting goods stores for under 100 dollars but the lenses on these economy models appear to be cheap plastic nothing at all like the lenses on the celestrons.
My binoculars came with no case. I had to buy a case for them and stored the binoculars laying flat which was a mistake. I live in the desert and the inside of my home can go over 100 degrees in the summer. This laying flat method of storing the binoculars melted some of the plastic on them which annoyed me. It's best to store these with the binoculars in an up and down position to avoid any possible melting of the plastic if using a case that is not designed for giant binoculars.
If I had a choice now I would select a different brand of giant binoculars in a lower price range than these celestrons. I would probably pay no more than 175 dollars for a pair of 20/80 binoculars.
