Rated a Very Helpful Review

Pros:Affordable, easy to set up, great resolution with right lenses, helpful software.

Cons:Lenses included with telescope are poor quality. Finderscope is cheap.

The Bottom Line: I recommend this scope. The main telescope and tripod is good quality. Just be prepared to by better lenses.

This 127 EQ Powerseeker Reflector telescope has an apperature of 6 inches (127mm). Apperature is the size of the opening of the telescope, which allows the light to enter. This size is ideal for viewing deep space. This size telescope will allow 30% more light into the telescope than other smaller aperatures sold of 4.5 inches (114mm). At around $130-$140, it is a good deal.

This telescope comes with  an aluminum tripod, 2 lenses, barlow lens, and counter weights, instruction booklet, and computer software.

This reflector scope is ideal for viewing deep space objects such as nebulas and star clusters. You will also find this telescope offers up GREAT views of the moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars. It will take time to actually find different viewable objects in space as it takes time finding any object with any telescope.

This is a great first scope for anyone who wants a reflector telescope because of the easy set up and ease of use. Be patient.. It takes time to find your objects; however this telescope uses a highly polished mirror to reflect light from object to the objective lens from all the stars. The 6 inch aperature allows a good amount of light, which gives a sharper and clearer image than smaller apperatures. Remember the larger the apperature the better quality images you will see. I do not recommend this scope for photos because there is too much vibration for cameras.

The supplied lenses are not good quality. The main 25mm lens is the poorest quality. You can view the moon fairly well but anything else is unjust. The supplied Barlow lens will magnafy any other lens by 3X is also poor quality. The 10mm lens is alright; however, you must have a good 25mm - 35mm main lens that will allow you to find the main object to view in space. I also recommend some colored filters to screw into any new main lens or lenses you buy to give you better viewing. Once you purchase better upgraded lenses, this telescope will be hard to put down. You will see the cloud belts on jupiter and saturn! Rings around saturn! Moon up Close and personal! You can even see 4 of Jupitors moons, which look like little sparkling diamonds. The orion nebula is awsome! Just remember to get better lenses. It is hard to find a cheaper starter scope with good lenses; however, Celestron telescopes are some of the best you can buy. The quality tripod and main scope is what you are actually purchasing. The telescope tube and whats inside are what is going to make your viewing great once you have the lenses and colored filters. You can purchase a great quality lens for your new scope at about 49.00 - 59.00. Start with wide lens like 25mm or 35mm. This is a must. Then then you want another good quality lens of about 15MM for higher magnification. When you find the object of choice with the largest lens, switch out to the smaller lens for closer view. Also think of eventually buying a good quality 2X Barlow lens later on, which will really bump up magnification. A good Barlow runs about $30.00. Don't let anyone sell you expensive $100 lenses, etc because you can find great quality lenses at the lower prices. With good lenses focusing is very easy with this telescope. Just be easy and slow and you will be very happy. Star gazing takes time and patience. So do it right.

The software that comes with this telescope will be very helpful. It gives you a very detailed star map of the sky that will show you the constellations, planets, and all the nebulas and star clusters you can view in real time. On the paticular day and time you will be viewing, you can see what is out before you go.

With the new lenses purchased after I bought this telescope, I am very satified and have used this scope for hours with my wife and daughter. Celestron is good quality (minus the included lenses);however, other lenses you purchase from Celestron are good quality also. Just the included lenses are worthless.
