| Babycarrots's Full Review: Century Solar-Cell Sunblanket Pool Cover |
Several years ago I had a pool custom designed and installed in my backyard. I had been using the cover that came with the pool. The cover was worn out and riping at the seams. It was made out of a bubble wrap type material. Since my pool was custom designed to fit in the backyard without being too close to power lines or underground utilites, I couldn't find a cover without having to special order. At my local pool supply store I picked up some information on the Century Solar-Cell Sunblanket Pool Cover. After reading over the material for awhile I decided that this was the cover that best fit my needs.
I wanted to extend the swimming season
I am an avid swimmer who looks forward to summmer. When summer comes close I am out in the backyard checking the pool's temperature willing it to rise so that I can swim. The temperature never rises fastly enough nor does it stay warm long enough for me. With the Century Solar-Cell Sunblanket Pool Cover the temperature has been higher by eight to twelve degrees that with my other cover. The Century model uses heat from the sun to warm the pool and extends the swimming season by about six weeks. This make me a very happy swimmer.
Water is overly exspensive here in the desert
Here in New Mexico water costs are outrageous. I live in the valley and it doesn't rain very much which almost depleats our water supply. We are always in water rationing which means that you can only water your lawn on certain days between certain hours. Having a pool is a luxury that I had always pined after, but after getting it the water bills alone put a severe financial strain on me. With the Century cover the evaporation lessens by ninety percent. In New Mexico water evaporates very easy because there is no humidity. Before installing the cover my water bills were around 150 dollars a month during the summer, now they are around fifty dollars a month in the summer.
Cleaner pool equals happier owner
With this cover less dirt, trash, and leaves find thier way into my pool. I hate having to sweep the pool out every morning before i can swim. The company did an excellent job on custom fitting the cover to my pool.
To accomodate the electical lines and underground utilities my pool was custom created. It is in the shape of a backwards S. I got the dimensions from the designers and took the to local Century dealer, and they ordered it for me. It took four weeks for me to recieve my new cover. The whole process was stressless and easy for me.
This thing is strong
This cover is very strong. My old cover was falling apart at the seams within five months of having it. There were a lot of seams on it which made it weaker.
The Century Solar-Cell Sunblanket Pool Cover is the only cover to use six foot panels in the construction process to minimize seams, which in turn make it stronger than other covers.
This cover is made from thousands of puncture resistant air cells. These cells are covered with the newest poly material on the market. This new poly material has twice the strechability and strength of other conventional poly type film.
EASY to use
My old cover was unattractive and hard to use. Now i just have to simply roll the cover onto the pool with some reels that were installed at the end of my pool. When I am finished swimming for the day I just roll it back up.
Not only is storage easier but it is more attractive. My old cover just sat in a heap at the end of the pool. Now with my new cover it is nice and neat, rolled up at the foot of my pool.
