Pros: non-greasy, easy to apply, long-lasting, fragrance free
Back in October my hands were dry, cracking, red and sore from (1) Minnesotas dry winters and (2) constant washing to prevent the transfer of cold germs from Kids daycare and everywhere else. Then I picked up a tube of Cetaphil Therapeutic Hand Cream, and after only a few weeks of consistent use, my hands were looking and feeling much softer again!
Description of the Cetaphil Therapeutic Hand Cream
This hand cream comes in a 3oz green and purple squeeze tube that is small enough to fit in a purse. I picked mine up at Target for $6.99. The cream is white, odorless, and contains Shea Butter for extra moisturizing.
Purified Water, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Oleth-2, Peg-2 Stearate, Butyrospermum ParkII (Shea Butter), Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Dimethicone, Stearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate (and) Peg-100 Stearate, Methylparaben, Tocopherol, Arginine PCA, Chlorhexidine Digluconate.
My use of the hand cream
The hand cream is thicker than a lotion, and is not runny at all. But it doesnt clump and it spreads easily over my hands. The best part is that it is absorbed into my skin within a couple of seconds and leaves my hands feeling soft, but not greasy at all. I dont have the slippery feeling that I sometimes get from lotions, so I dont have to pat dry my hands after using this cream. I also love that it is fragrance free, so its not overpowering to the senses and doesnt compete with perfume.
You have to be careful not to squeeze the tube too hard because, in my experience, a little goes a long way with this cream. I only need an amount the size of a pea to adequately moisturize my hands. This is also a plus because the tube is expensive, so the fact that only a little is needed will help to extend its use.
Ive been using the Cetaphil Therapeutic Hand Cream daily for over a month. On average, I apply it 2 times per day. Ive seen a dramatic difference in the appearance and feel of the skin on my hands. There is no more cracking or dry spots, the redness is gone, and, best of all, they dont hurt anymore. I find that it has a long lasting effect, too, because I dont need to reapply every time that I wash my hands. At this point, I usually just apply in the morning and again at night and that has been enough to both fix and prevent my dry and achy hands.
This cream can also be used on feet, and I have been doing so for the past couple of nights. In that short period of time, Ive seen a huge difference in my cracked heels. However, Im not sure Ill continue to use it for feet, since that requires more cream and this brand is not cheap.
