Check Out Check Up Ernie

  • User Rating: Disappointing
  • Durability:
Pros:The outside of the toy is sturdy.
Cons:Everything about the toy , except what I mentioned in pros.
The Bottom Line: This toy was no good for either of my children and a headache for me.

I hate this doll so bad I do not even want to do this review. So no one else gets gipped in the toy department I will.

Suggested Age Group:

The box says for ages 1 and a half and up. My four year old son ( whom has tested equal to at least a six year old in physical skills by the health department ) could not work all the features. The one that gave him trouble was a frog in the toy's pocket. The frog is almost too large to fit in so he is constantly harassing me to " Fix IT ! ".
Between cleaning bootys and cleaning house this is a problem. I suggest this toy for a four year old who has repetitive parents.

What It Comes With:

This toy comes with a hankie sewn on his left hand. A pet frog is sewn to a string in his pocket. ( Convenient for the kids with a deep toy box. ) Three play pieces are included made of sturdy plastic. The play pieces are a stethescope , a thermometer , and one of those big popsicle sticks doctors use. The play pieces work with the toy , but if you loose them your fingers work also. That is good for kids with a deep toy box , or who like to forget their toys at places. Lastly , there is a band aid sewn on his left leg that lifts on one side. The band aid has cute rubber duckies all over it.

There is no warning on the box , but I would suggest throwing the popsicle piece away for very small children. I have noticed that one and a half year olds like to run with things in their mouth. I am more than a little paranoid a child will fall with that piece and get it stuck in their throat.

What The Toy Is SUPPOSED To Do :

You can blow his nose with the hankie. His ears wiggle when you do this. (We bought two Ernies 1 for my son and 1 for my daughter.) On both toys the ears quit working in one day. His band aid lifts and he exclaims " Oh good ! My boo boo is all better!". On one of the toys the band aid gets hung and will not shut up , and on the other it only works one out of twenty times. He talks about his frog that stays in his heart pocket. I have already mentioned it is hard to get the frog in the pocket. You can listen to his heart and take his temp while he says cute things about what you are doing. Since most of the features have to do with magnets being lined up just right , I think it is pretty complicated for the recommended age group.

A Warning On The Box? :

On the bottom of the box it states as follows : Should this product cause local electrical interference we suggest moving it away from other equipment. Maybe the doll will come in handy if we ever loose our electricity and we can use it as a generator.

Battery Requirements :

The doll comes with Duracell batteries at the store. It takes 3 " AA " (LR6) alkaline batteries.

Materials Doll Is Made From :

Filling is all new materials , polyester fiber , and plastic stiffener.

Over all neither of my children play with this toy even once a week. Some of the things on the toy are hard to work. A lot of the things on the toy will not work.
