naphtalia's Full Review: Cheese and Peanut Butter Crackers 8 Crackers/Pk 12...
At the magic store where I work, we keep a good supply of snacks on hand. Usually there are cookies, donuts, chex mix or other goodies. Occasionally the boss will pick up these cheese crackers with peanut butter filling. They're not unpleasant, but hardly a favorite snack. These usually get eaten when we've run out of other things.
The crackers are cheddar cheese flavored and remind me of cheesy goldfish crackers, but a bit drier. Sandwiched between the crackers is a bit of peanut butter. The cracker is relatively salty. The peanut butter is overwhelmed by the cracker flavor and really gets quite lost. If I had to describe the peanut butter, I would say it was an adhesive for the crackers more than a flavoring to the sandwich. .
The crackers are about 2" square and take a couple of bites to finish. They are packaged in sleeves with 8 of the little sandwiches. Nobody finds these objectionable, but no one raves about these. We have the same kind of crackers in the vending machine at work where they sell quite slowly. Given a variety of options, these just don't move. Where I think these would be terrific is for those who are going to be out all day and need a little something to pack in a purse. I might take them camping. I don't think I would pack them into a lunch box. It's just not that tough to make a sandwich that would be equally or more nutritious. On the plus side, the peanut butter here isn't loaded with lots of sugar or oils that some peanut butters have.
These are better eaten like Oreos. Pull them apart and eat the filling separately from the crackers. Then there is not such a mouthful of dry cracker. Also, the peanut butter can assert its flavor better this way and doesn't taste as dry.
Personally, I find 8 of these cracker sandwiches excessive. I'm inclined to think that 4 is a reasonable serving. Frankly, I'll usually only have 2 at a time and then nibble away at the others later.
In the end, these are unobjectionable. They're nothing special and I would never crave them. They work very well when I am hungry and need a quick bite to tide me over. I'm glad the boss stocks them for us, but I'd never buy them for myself.
