I get to Chicago at least 5-6 times a year, and you better believe that if i arrive downtown at a decent time with an overnight stay..the Chicago Chop House is # 1 on my list of all the fabulous choices in Chi-town.
Yes, call in advance to make a reservation because you will be highly disappointed if you show up "unannounced" and expect to get a seat.
My last visit (April 00) was perhaps the best!!. I made the mistake of showing up "unannounced" and was told that I would have a 45 min wait... ok what the heck..I was already there. I place was jammed pack with your exec type, happy couples, and a a few divas here and there...
To my surprise, after about a 10 min wait, the host asked if I would take a table in smoking..not my first choice, but when he told me he could seat me at the piano bar..it was a GO.
So with the live pianist, a complimentary class of champagne for my flexibility and a filet mignon that would knock your socks off..I felt as if I had gone to beef heaven :)
Really..the food was great, the pianist was super friendly and real layed back, my waiter had a great sense of humor and his frequent compliments of my smile were the highlight of my 2 day business excursion.
Gotta love it! Gotta try it!
Cause its good stuff..all around
