| LaurissaAnna's Full Review: Chicago Chop House |
A concierge friend of ours insisted we go to to dinner at the Chop House on a recent trip to Chicago. I assumed since he knows his restaurants that it would be an appropriate place to dine with out 8 month old daughter. When we arrived I felt very out of place asking for a high chair. We were seated next to two men making a business deal and around the dining room were various groups of young professionals, sipping wine. Not a child in sight and very subdued.
Our waitress brought us menus and a wine list. She then began cooing over the baby, happily. She also described the menu items and special with great and brilliant detail.
We perused the menu, which is, to say the least extensive and not what you'd call inexpensive. When the waitress came back to take our order she recommended a fabulous Cabernet to us. As we began with our glasses of wine the manager strolled up to our table, obviously having heard that she had a concierge in the house. She chatted with us in a very friendly manner and was also very sweet to the baby. I commented that I would not have brought her to this establishment had I known what the atmosphere is like. She quickly stated that children were certainly welcome there. If anyone had a problem with the baby she would personally explain to them that children are part of life and if they cry they cry, too bad. I was taken aback, but certainly impressed. She then showed us pictures of her grandchildren. Eventually she even held our daughter!
Our food arrived and was absolutely delicious. I ordered the 14 oz prime rib. It was the best I have ever had. My co-diners ordered filet mignon and lobster, both were equally phenomenal, as was the wine. While we were eating another waitress walked by and brought the baby a bowl of applesauce.
the experience we had that night was wonderful, it filled me with a fabulous, unparalleled meal and a new bit of respect for the world and the city of Chicago.
