Have stayed at the Drake many times. This is one of the true, grand hotels in the U.S. We had the Sunday brunch on this last trip and it was amazing, offering full tables of seafood, roasts, egg dishes, traditional breakfast dishes, salads, cold cuts and a scrumptious desert table -- worth every cent in the $49 price. The atmosphere is one of "old money" but not in a staid way. The only drawbacks are the somewhat smallish rooms and the wait for valet parking if you arrive during a particularly busy time of the day (e.g., society weddings on Saturday afternoon). The location is incomparable. The best in Chicago.
