Pros: History of the hotel. Cape Cod dining room.
Cons: Too many cons to list here.
The Bottom Line: There are better choices in the downtown area where you'll get more for your money.

| jlaf's Full Review: Drake Hotel (The) |
Overall hotel seemed like it could use some updating. Lobby and sleeping room decor was OK, not great. Noisy, my floor and bed vibrated with bass music on lower level. Loud traffic noise. Front desk service could be improved ... employees I dealt with weren't experienced/knowledgeable and seemed powerless when dealing with guests ... always checking with manager. Lack of communication from one dept to another in processing my complimentary reservation and checkout. Used valet parking...upon checkout handed them my ticket...they couldn't find my car and didn't have the key I handed them a couple days earlier. Took over an hour to locate my car and then my key. When I complained about the overall service the hotel manager and lobby staff blamed the sales staff, the sales staff blamed the lobby staff, and the valet staff blamed me telling me I was not patient enough since bringing cars around always takes 25 minutes (this was after I called them an hour earlier to bring the car around). No one took ownership for any of the problems I experienced and that to me is most unimpressive. As a result, I cannot recommend this hotel. There are much better places to stay in downtown Chicago.
