| maryed93's Full Review: Chicco Caddy - Navy Blue Umbrella Stroller |
I purchased this stroller when we were taking a trip to Mexico and needed a light-weight stroller to take on the plane. I shopped around and was getting ready to purchase the Maclaren Volvo umbrella stroller when a customer came up to me and suggested I look at the Chicco because it was just as nice but half the price. She was right, it was basically the same except for a few little things. One thing that was much better was the way it folded easily, this folds with a simple unlocking of one mechanism where the Volvo was more complex.
This stroller came with a carry bag and shoulder strap, I didn't use the bag as it seemed like just one more thing I would have to mess with while hurrying to board the plane. The shoulder strap fits on the bag but you can also use it for the stroller alone. It has two clips on the stroller to attach the strap, that was great, no need to struggle getting the stroller into the bag just fold and go. I was able to carry the stroller over my shoulder and baby too without straining.
The stroller does recline a little, not enough to use for a tiny baby though. The material used on this stroller is strong and has held up great. There is a little basket on the bottom of the stroller, not very big so I wouldn't get your hopes up on being able to store a lot of stuff down there. One problem with this particular model is the hood, it will slide right off the frame it's on if you flip it up when baby doesn't need shade. The newer model has rectified this problem by using a totally different frame to hold the hood. They still have both models available so you need to look at the picture on the box to make sure it has a new hood system, the old one looks like it is a square with a little material hanging down and the new one is rounded and instead of needing to flip it over to get it out of the way you just push it back. The newer model also has thicker handles for better comfort on the hands. Both are the same price in most stores, usually around $59.00 but you can get them for as low as $40.00 when they're on sale or off the Internet.
Overall I would say this stroller is worth the money if you need a lightweight stroller. I believe it is only @ 11 pounds. It fits in any trunk without a problem. It is not as nice as a full size stroller but wheels fine and much easier to lift. I wouldn't recommend walking on rough terrain with this stroller either. This stroller is a great option over the cheap umbrella strollers that fall apart after a couple months of use. This will last you for years if it is not abused.
