Pros: Comfortable, safe, durable, and rated to 30 pounds.
Cons: Small sun/rain shade, will not clip to grocery carts.
I was drawn to this seat by the good Consumer Reports rating and the fact that it is rated to 30 lbs. I am a physician, and I understand that the longer you can keep your baby rear-facing, the better. Most of my friends had to give up their infant seats at 6 months of age, because of the pound limit. I am still using mine at 11.5 months and 25 pounds! Of course, I no longer carry it around like an infant seat. I leave it in my car, attached to the base, like a convertible car seat. Once you learn how to install the base, (which took me about 10 minutes as a first-time parent) taking the base out and into another car is literally a 20 second or less process. It has been a great seat for my daughter. She has never complained about getting into it. She was born at 7 lbs. 10 oz, and the infant insert was great at that age. Her head never flopped around (or forward). Two of my friends had problems with their infant's heads flopping forward in Graco seats. They had to stop the car to adjust the babies' positions! The 5 point harness is comfortable, and easy to adjust. The one drawback to this car seat is the sunshade. Compared to the Graco models, it is very small, not easily adjustable and shades about 1/2 of the seat. Not a problem if you have a large SUV/tinted windows/little time outside with it in the stroller. If you are planning many outdoor activities in the sun (or rain, for that matter) you will be disappointed. We ended up clipping blankets over the top of it to shade her while walking. This car seat does not clip to the handle/seat area of grocery carts. It will easily fit in the main bin of the grocery cart, which is safer but does limit the amount of groceries you can buy!Since they are often bought together, I have a few comments about the Chicco Trevi stroller too, which I have used for daily walks from age 1-11 months (so far): PROS: stable, good manuvering, attractive, no cheap or flimsy parts, comfortable for baby and adult, infant seat fits in easily and solidly, large enough to grow with child into the pre-school years, seat reclines fully for naps if needed.CONS: cargo basket difficult to access with infant seat attached, stroller sun/rain shade too small and high to shade any of the infant or toddler unless your back is to the sun, plastic parts on toddler arm rests (for securing the infant car seat) end up digging into her arms if she squirms around (she has not been hurt by this, but it makes the seat more "tight.")Overall, a great travel system. I highly recommend it to people who are starting a family. I think it will last for many years.
