However, it makes me wonder. I have not heard the English phrase "at an end" very often. Is this proper English? This is a direct word-by-word translation of the Swedish "till ett slut".

Yeah things do get lost in translation sometimes. The essence of puns, word plays, double meanings, and clever titles are typically lost. However, if there is not much of that and the translator knows both languages really well it typically works. In this case the Swedish --> English comes out good. I don't know what would happen with Swedish --> English --> Chinese. It would be an interesting experiment to translate through a few languages and then back to the original language and then compare the result.

I searched our library to locate a copy -- thought that might be a good place to introduce myself to this book (before buying a copy) and had to chuckle. They have one copy but it was translated into Chinese from the English translation of the original Swedish. I wonder what was lost in translation.
