| AliventiAsylum's Full Review: Chloraseptic Sore Throat Spray for Kids, Grape |
Lately it seems that the colds I have been getting are always preceded by two or three days of a nasty sore throat. That has been the case for both myself and my 12 year old daughter. I don’t know why the two of us are affected this way and why (for me) it only started doing this over the last few years. All I know is that it hurts like all heck and I want to get rid of it as fast as possible. I had always kept a bottle of Chloraseptic Sore Throat Spray in our medicine cabinet. My daughter has gone over to the strips since she doesn’t like the spray in her mouth. When I felt this last cold comin on, I figured since I still had the bottle of Chloraseptic Grape Sore Throat Spray for Kids I would use it up, rather than purchasing a new bottle for myself. Chloraseptic Grape Sore Throat Spray for Kids is an oral anesthetic formulated to relieve sore mouth, sore throat pain, minor irritation or injury of the mouth and gums, pain associated with canker sores, and pain due to minor dental procedures, dentures, or orthodontic appliances. It’s alcohol free, aspirin free, and sugar free. The active ingredient is 0.5% Phenol. Chloraseptic Grape Sore Throat Spray for Kids comes in a bottle with a spray top. It pumps to spray the medicine into the mouth. I have never had a problem with the pump not working, although it will probably take a few pumps to prime it either the first time you use it or if you haven’t used it in a while. The directions are simple. For children ages 2 through 11, spray the throat or the affected area five times with the spray. Children under 2 should not be given the spray unless directed to by a doctor. When I used it on my daughter, she would make a nasty, uncomfortable face. This is what led us to find an alternative. When I sprayed it in my own throat, it didn’t bother me that much at all. I found I could direct the spray onto my throat without ending up with a whole lot on the back of my tongue. The taste is a strong grape, not mild at all. I would say it’s way stronger than plain grape juice. My tongue did lose some of its ability to taste, but that happens to me with a cold anyway. Be prepared if you use this for your kids to tell you their food doesn’t taste right or for them to lose their appetite a bit. Within about a minute of spraying my throat with Chloraseptic Grape Sore Throat Spray for Kids I noticed the pain subsiding. By five minutes, it was just about gone and I felt human once again. The spray can be applied every 2 hours. I just waited until it flared up again and sprayed again. It seemed to be longer than 2 hours, so it lasts quite well. I like the flavor of it better than the menthol flavor that I usually use, that’s for sure. The flavor certainly isn’t for everyone, but it’s a definite improvement over other throat sprays that taste too medicine. My 6 year old son doesn’t like the feel of spray in his throat either, but for him it’s more a sensory issue than anything else. I guess Mom will be using up the Chloraseptic Grape Sore Throat Spray for Kids and I don’t mind at all. It really helped with the sore throat at the start of this cold. I was comfortable enough to function, instead of wanting to just lie in my bed and feel miserable. This medicine is approved for purchase with a FSA (flexible spending account).
