| latiness's Full Review: Cingular Mobile Phone Service in San Francisco/San... |
As I was reading some other reviews about Cingular Wireless, I must admit that customer confusion about identity is justified. As a previous employee for this company I greatly admire all the strides in technology advancement the company has made over the years. Cingular wireless sincerely does invest millions of dollars in continually improving the reliability of technology. Above anything else, customers are more concerned about making sure their phone works. However, no company is perfect, and people often forget that cellular service has not been around for that long.
I still remember the days where beepers were the craze, and we have come a long way from the beepers days. As ancient as it sounds, some people actually still use beepers. I dont really know why, but I am sure they have their reasons.
In the world of business things, company name, and ownership are always changing. During the six-year employment term I was there, I think we changed our name and ownership three time, but thats just business.
Even though I am no longer an employee of the company, I still am committed to using their service. The reason I like Cingular wireless for the San Francisco Bay Area is that I rarely experience dropped calls. Of course, this is within reason, because no wireless carrier can guarantee you the absence of dropped calls.
There are several factors why calls get dropped. Some reasons why calls dropped include priority level. What I mean by priority level is that when you use your wireless phone you are using air space. Lets say there is an emergency in your area and a police officer or firemen needs to use their wireless phone. Dare call takes parity over yours, because the call may be a life or death situation. If there are too many people using their wireless phones in the same area at once, the network may drop a lower priority level person off. I do not know if they have made improvements in the technology, but this was true when I worked there. The good news is that if you try again to make the call, the call will usually go through.
I also like the fact that Cingular wireless offers GSM or 3G wireless service. I once took a chip to Central America, and I took my phone with me. I was even able to send text messages from the top of the Masaya Volcano in Nicaragua. Of course, it costs more than a regular text message sent and received in the United States, but the security of having my phone in unknown places was worth it to me.
